Right then, a second win of the season for the Super Giants and, importantly, their first at home. They now hit the road and travel to Kolkata to take on the Knight Riders in an afternoon clash on Tuesday, 8th April. As for Mumbai, they find themselves with just one win from four outings and will return to Wankhede to host the Royal Challengers Bengaluru on Monday, 7th April. 5th April will be a doubleheader Saturday in the 2025 Indian Premier League. The first game of the day will see the Chennai Super Kings taking on the Delhi Capitals in Chennai at 3.30 pm IST (10 am GMT). This will be followed by the Punjab Kings squaring off against the Rajasthan Royals in Mullanpur at 7.30 pm IST (2 pm GMT). As always, our build-up for both games will begin a lot sooner. See you then. Cheers!
Avesh Khan (3-0-31-1) to bowl the final over with Mumbai Indians needing 22 runs off the last 6 balls. Lucknow Super Giants have been penalised for a slow over-rate. They will be allowed only 4 fielders outside the 30-yard circle for the final over.
So far so good from Shardul Thakur!
Change of bat for Hardik Pandya.
Who will bowl the penultimate over? Shardul Thakur or Avesh Khan? Rishabh Pant is going with the former with MI needing 29 runs off 12 balls. Thakur has been expensive on the night, going for 33 runs in his 3 overs so far.
Digvesh Singh has been the pick of the bowlers for LSG so far. He will bowl out now. 3-0-10-1 so far for Singh.
The skipper of MI, Hardik Pandya, comes out to bat.
Avesh Khan (2-0-19-0) returns to the attack with Mumbai Indians needing 52 runs off 24 balls.
Akash Deep seems to have hurt his right hand while going for the catch. He is going off the field for some treatment. M Siddharth comes on as the substitute.
Akash Deep (3-0-36-1) replaces Shardul Thakur.
STRATEGIC BREAK. It is pretty neck-to-neck at the moment, with both teams' worms overlapping each other. Suryakumar Yadav has been at his usual self, motoring along at a good pace and inching closer to his fifty, while Tilak Varma has provided that cool and composed hand from the other end. Both have played percentage cricket, and have managed to control the innings well so far. A wicket or two here will bring LSG on top of their opponents. But who will break this stand? With 79 needed off 42, Ravi Bishnoi returns into the attack. He is 2-0-23-0 so far.
Shardul Thakur (2-0-21-1) is back on. He replaces Avesh Khan. Also, one warning has been issued to the fielding side for exceeding the time limit to start the new over.
Digvesh Singh is back on. 2-0-8-1 so far for him. He replaces Ravi Bishnoi.
MI's Impact Player, Tilak Varma, walks out to bat. Vignesh Puthur has been subbed out.
STRATEGIC BREAK! Despite the shaky start, MI have done well to keep the required run rate in check through this stand between Naman Dhir and Suryakumar Yadav. LSG got a couple of early scalps but have not quite managed to mount the pressure due to the inconsistency in the lines and lengths. The Super Giants will look to regroup and will hope that this break in play helps them disrupt the momentum.
Spin now. Digvesh Singh is introduced into the attack. He replaces Akash Deep.
Change of bat for Suryakumar Yadav. Seems like he chipped the toe-end of the bat and is not pleased with it. And both the batters are also helped with some drinks. SKY selects the new bat, and is good to continue.
Avesh Khan is introduced into the attack. He replaces Shardul Thakur.
Suryakumar Yadav walks in at number 4 with MI in early trouble.
Surprising move from Mumbai Indians. Naman Dhir has been promoted to number 3.
Akash Deep to operate from the far end.
