That ends a power-packed Sunday. Gujarat Titans have entered their third IPL playoffs in 4 years of experience and in doing so, they have done some community service, taking Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Punjab Kings along with them. Not that the other two teams did not earn it on their merit. In fact, Punjab Kings strengthened their qualification chances by defeating Rajasthan Royals in the afternoon game, where they kept their nerves with the ball to pull off a win by 10 runs. What this does is - leave only one side vacant for qualification with three teams fighting for it - Mumbai Indians, Delhi Capitals and Lucknow Super Giants. LSG play on Monday, 19th May, 2025, against the Sunrisers Hyderabad at their home ground in Lucknow. A loss here for the home side would eliminate LSG. The first ball will be bowled at 7.30 pm IST (1400 GMT) but our buildup will begin well in advance. So do tune in early. ADIOS! TAKE CARE!
Vipraj Nigam is back on. 3-0-26-0 so far.
Here's Kuldeep Yadav again. 3-0-26-0 so far.
Shubman Gill has been exceptional against spin this season, averaging 101.5 at a strike rate of 164, getting dismissed just twice. T Natarajan is back on. 2-0-31-0 so far.
STRATEGIC TIMEOUT. Delhi Capitals are looking pretty deflated out there. Gujarat Titans are in pole position to earn the first 10-wicket win of this season. Nothing that the DC bowlers are trying is getting any fruit and once again, one of the top 3 from the GT batting lineup has batted till the 15th over. In this case, the top 2 are yet to be even separated. It has been a batting masterclass no doubt but the Delhi bowlers have lacked the guile to challenge the batters on a batting beauty. Three records are up for grabs now - Hundreds by both the openers and a 200-run opening stand - both would be a first this season. Here's Mustafizur Rahman. 2-0-13-0 so far.
Shubman Gill has scored the most runs (417) by any batter away from home in IPL 2025. Vipraj Nigam is back on. 2-0-15-0 so far.
Gill has particularly excelled in away matches this season; batting at an average of 70.4 including 4 fifties in 6 innings. This was before this match. Make that 5 fifties in 7 innings! Kuldeep Yadav is back on. 2-0-17-0 so far.
Dushmantha Chameera returns. 1-0-3-0 so far.
T Natarajan returns. Went for 20 in his opener.
We missed this - but Shubman Gill has gone past 5000 runs in T20 cricket, becoming the second fastest Indian after KL Rahul to the milestone. He crossed that mark when he got past 21. He now has 5000-plus runs in 154 innings, while Rahul achieved it in 143.
STRATEGIC TIMEOUT. It is all one-way traffic at the moment. Gujarat Titans were very vocal of getting a quick and strong start in the Powerplay and they exemplified that by smashing 43 runs in the first 3 overs of the chase. Post that, Delhi Capitals have actually come back well but because of those first 3 overs, the required rate is well under check, especially, with all 10 wickets intact. However, the spinners are making the ball talk and the next phase could be interesting. Meanwhile, Sai Sudharsan has got back the Orange Cap, after Yashasvi Jaiswal briefly held it this evening post his knock against Punjab Kings.
Do we have another review here? We sure have. Kuldeep Yadav seems to have trapped Sai Sudharsan LBW but the onfield decision is not out. That looked very close. Was there bat involved? Nothing on the UltraEdge. What does Ball Tracking say? Umpire's call! Would you believe it?
Is that a wicket? Massive appeal for caught behind. Not given and DC take it upstairs. The keeper seemed extremely confident. Here comes UltraEdge. Spike is when the ball hits the pad! Great decision by the umpire.
Interestingly, Gill is one of only 4 captains who've scored 500 runs or more at an average of 50-plus and strike-rate in excess of 150 in an IPL season overall. Here's Vipraj Nigam.
The camera pans on KL Rahul who is back on the ground. Might have gone for a shower after his long knock. But as of now, he is not donning the gloves. Abishek Porel is doing the honours.
Shubman Gill has been outstanding in the last few innings for GT - scoring 360 runs at an average of 60 including 4 fifties in his last 6 innings. Here's Dushmantha Chameera now.
Gujarat's success has been implied by their resurgent top order, each of whom has scored at least 500 runs in IPL 2025. This is only the first instance where 3 batters from a single team have scored 500 runs or more in an IPL season. Bowling change. This guy was playing in the UAE last night. He is in Delhi tonight. Here's Mustafizur Rahman.
Shubman Gill has scored 508 runs at an average of 50.8 this season.
Captain Shubman Gill leads the charge of GT's batting, being the only skipper with 500-plus runs in IPL 2025. T Natarajan to share the new ball.
