Well then, it all comes down to the battle of the reds for the grand finale! Two teams that have never won the IPL trophy since the inception of this tournament now stand face to face. We will have a new title holder in the grandest theatre of cricket as the Punjab Kings take on the Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the summit clash of IPL 2025. Will the Kings take revenge for their defeat against the Royal Challengers in Qualifier 1, or will RCB dominate again? Two of the most consistent sides in this edition are all set to play for glory. The Grand Finale is scheduled to be played on June 3rd, Tuesday, with the first ball set to be bowled at 7.30 pm IST (2 pm GMT). And it will be the grand Narendra Modi Stadium of Ahmedabad that will play host to the last dance. Make sure you all mark your presence an hour earlier for our buildup. Till then, take care and cheers!
Who bowls the 19th? Topley? Ashwani? Or Hardik himself? It will be Ashwani Kumar (3-0-29-2) to bowl the penultimate.
Hardik Pandya switches to his best bowler now. Jasprit Bumrah has been brought back into the attack for his final over. 3-0-32-0 so far.
'The Hulk', Marcus Stoinis is in at 7 now.
Is that a run out? A direct hit by Hardik Pandya at the non-striker's end. Shashank Singh is found just short of his crease. OUT!
Bumrah time? Not yet. Here's Trent Boult into the attack again. 3-0-28-1 so far.
STRATEGIC BREAK. This is on a knife's edge, folks! And with the wicket of Nehal Wadhera just before the break, it could well go down to the wire. With the top three out before the halfway mark, the Kings were under enormous pressure, but then came the recovery stand of 84 runs between Nehal Wadhera and Shreyas Iyer, which tilted the scales back to PBKS' favor. For Mumbai Indians, Jasprit Bumrah being wicketless in his three overs, and the other two pacers going around the park has dented their attack. However, Ashwani Kumar has made a solid impact and has snagged two massive wickets just when MI were desperate to get them. With 48 more needed, here's Shashank Singh in at 6 for PBKS.
STRATEGIC BREAK. If we compare the worms of both sides, surely, Mumbai Indians will feel they are ahead in the game. And rightly so, as they have managed to dismiss the top three of PBKS within the halfway mark in the chase. Inglis looked like a man on a mission, scoring almost half of what PBKS have on the board, but with him gone, the pressure has multiplied on the Kings massively. It is all on the shoulders of skipper Shreyas Iyer and how the middle order supports him. Stoinis and Shashank are yet to come to bat, but what PBKS needs right now is a steady partnership till the 14th-15th over. A very crucial middle phase of the chase is loading up, folks! MI skipper Hardik Pandya to continue after the break. He is 1-0-2-1 so far.
Nehal Wadhera is in at 5 with the Kings in a spot of bother.
Mitchell Santner is introduced into the attack now. He replaces Jasprit Bumrah.
Skipper Shreyas Iyer is in at 4.
The thread on the seam of the ball is sticking out and needs to be trimmed with scissors. The two umpires converge to get the job done. We are all good to go now.
Josh Inglis walks in at number 3.
It will be Reece Topley on debut for MI, to bowl from the other end. Trent Boult was cautioned by Chris Gaffaney to stay clear of the danger area in the previous over, though no official warning has been issued just yet.
